Australia is short tens of thousands of skilled tradies — but apprentices still struggle to find their first start. HYRED exists to fix that. Built in Australia, for Australian apprentices and the businesses that hire them.
Our mission
The trade skills shortage is the biggest economic challenge facing Australia. We need 90,000 more tradies by 2030 — but most apprentices we talk to spent months knocking on doors just to land their first job.
HYRED is the bridge. A free, simple marketplace where apprentices can build a profile in minutes and apply to verified businesses across NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT and NT.
No subscriptions. No resume gatekeeping. No BS.
The problem
The story
HYRED was started by a working builder who kept seeing the same thing on every site — young people keen to get into the trades, but no idea where to start. They couldn't figure out which trade actually suited their skills, couldn't get in front of the right boss, and had no one in their corner showing them the ropes.
Same kids would ask the same questions every week — what tools do I need, when do I buy them, which brands are actually worth the money, and how do I get better at my trade without learning every lesson the hard way? Meanwhile the businesses he worked alongside were posting jobs on three different sites, wading through CVs from people who'd never picked up a tool, and paying recruiters thousands just to find one decent first-year.
We're building HYRED because the trades deserve better tech. Simple, honest, and made by people who've actually been on the tools.
What we stand for
Every feature is shaped by what apprentices and tradies actually need on a worksite — not what looks pretty in a pitch deck.
Apprentices already pay enough — for tools, fuel, TAFE fees. We will never charge them a cent to use HYRED.
Every business on HYRED is checked. No dodgy listings. No ghost jobs. If they're posting, they're hiring.
Sign up, profile, apply — under 5 minutes. We respect your time on the tools.
Don't leave cash on the table
Federal loans, state fee waivers, new energy payments. We've curated every official link.
